2020 is around the corner and there’s no doubt hundreds of you will have started writing flippant fantasy lists, or new year resolutions as you may call them.
But instead of jotting down some targets that may be difficult to keep, set a real goal for 2020 and discover the yearlong medal challenges we have to offer.
Our challenges consist of different distances and parameters so there’s something on offer for people of all abilities, whether you’re new to totting up kilometres or a veteran of long distance.
Here are our fantastic five yearlong medals on offer:
- Monthly 2020 Challenge
This would be the ultimate goal for 2020. Challenge yourself to complete 25k, 50k, 100k or 200k distance throughout the year. It’s a great way to motivate you to achieve goals on a monthly basis which will help you smash your annual goal! There is no better way to keep that momentum going than with this medal. Choose to run, walk or cycle the distance you have signed up for between 1st – 31st January 2020 to claim your exclusive, bespoke piece which you can add to your medal frame! Any discipline can be done and you can mix and match if you wish to achieve your goal. Find out more info here.
- The 500km challenge
You’d have to average out around 9km a week to achieve the medal and the distance can be made up from a mixture of walking, running and cycling. So, you can always shake things up if it starts to get monotonous. A minimum of 20% of each entry will also be donated to Sarcoma UK, a national charity that funds research, offers support for anyone affected by sarcoma cancer and campaigns for better treatments. Find out more challenge info here.
- The 500-mile challenge
Get your headphones in, stick on The Proclaimers and march your way to an annual goal of 500 miles. The conditions for this medal are exactly the same as the 500km race, just a slightly longer distance of course. But if you catch the runner’s bug and overshoot the target, don’t panic, there’s also an overall leaderboard to compete for. Entry is also only £10! Find out more challenge info here.
- 1000km challenge
This challenge is a bit trickier, as you must stick to only one form of activity. But, as Bruce Lee said, “I fear not the man who has practiced 10,000 kicks once, but the man who has practiced one kick 10,000 times”. So, do yourself and Mr Lee proud and stick to one discipline to claim this medal. The good news is, you can choose from walking, running, cycling or even swimming for this challenge. At least 20% from each entry will go towards charity Snowbuddies UK, who help organize ski trips tailored to the needs of disabled skiers and snowboarders. Find out more challenge info here.
- 1000-mile challenge
This is the biggest challenge on offer! The 1000-mile challenge fits the exact same guidelines as the 1000km challenge discussed previously, but pushes you even further distance wise, so be ready to become a master in your chosen discipline by this time next year. Entry is £13.50. Find out more challenge info here.
