What is the Daffodil Dash?
The Daffodil Dash is a new and awesome super spring challenge that supports Marie Curie’s Great Daffodil Appeal in 2019.
If you’re living with a terminal illness or you know someone who is, Marie Curie nurses, hospices, helper volunteers and support services are here for you, which is why we want to support them.
Marie Curie’s logo is a yellow daffodil, so this spring we’re launching our first ever DAFFODIL DASH to help grow funds for Marie Curie.
Run, walk, hop or skip 28km in the month of March to help raise the 2.8 million pounds a year needed to fund Marie Curie’s amazing research.
That’s the equivalent of around 1km a day! Experienced runners and walkers can Daffodil dash in one go, newbie runners and walkers can dash 1km a day, it’s completely up to you!
We don’t mind how you do it, we don’t mind how fast you do it, we just need you to daffodil dash this spring so Marie Curie can provide the best possible care to people at the end of their life.
This race is open to everyone and you can run or walk as far as you can (broken down in as many events as you like) between 1st – 31st March 2019 to earn your exclusive medal!
Submissions proving your distance will be required by 3rd April at 12 noon to claim your medal. You must achieve a minimum of 28km across the month (not necessarily done in one go) to claim your medal. Anything after this date, will not be accepted, you will not appear on the results and will not get your medals.
Once you have submitted (and please only submit once and when you achieve the minimum distance of 28km), patiently wait for the post to arrive with your medal which will be sent within 5 working days after approval of your submission! As this is a challenge, we are asking for you to complete a minimum of 28km, if you want to do more then you will climb higher up our results table.
A minimum of 20% donation will be given to Marie Curie.
The Daffodil Dash supports Marie Curie research
In the UK more people are living longer than ever before, leading to an increasing need for end of life care.
However, end of life care research is significantly under-funded.
Marie Curie are the largest funder of end of life care research in the whole of the UK.
They not only fund their own amazing researchers but they work in partnership with other superstar organisations to ensure that high quality research in this area continues to be a top priority.
Last year Marie Curie invested an incredible 2.8 million pounds into ground-breaking research used to improve care for people with terminal illness.
